This is our story: a collection of snapshots and memories of love, brain surgery, cancer and life
I. Love. You.
It’s my family’s secret code, and I passed it on to Aaron before I even said the words to him aloud.
Today, the screen in front of us turns on and we’re given a sneak peek at the product of this love, a small blip blinking tirelessly at us in the center. Aaron gives me three more squeezes on my shoulder.
It’s the baby’s heart, the tech tells us, and Aaron’s squeezes get faster and faster until he’s keeping time with the little heart in front of us and my own heart is ready to split right open.
